CORAL REEF

This quilt depicts an underwater coral reef and the fish residing there. 

All fish and corals are original designs created by using free motion thread painting for each appliqué.  It was done totally by machine, using only a free motion zigzag stitch.  Each separate fish and coral was then appliquéd to the quilt.  Fused hand dyed fabrics, cheesecloth, and commercial prints were used to create the fronds and fauna.   Stamping, painting, yarns, and free motion quilting were added to enhance the design and add texture.
